Bark River man charged in strangulation case
ESCANABA — A 19-year-old Bark River man has been charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder by strangulation and remains lodged in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
Sky Ray Reiffers, of 5618 F Road, Bark River, was recently arrested in connection with a July 4, 2017, incident in Bark River Township involving the alleged assault of a female victim.
In addition to the assault by strangulation charge, a 10-year felony with a $5,000 maximum fine, Reiffers is also charged with aggravated domestic violence, a one-year misdemeanor with a $1,000 maximum fine.
He was recently bound over from Delta County District Court to circuit court. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference on Aug. 29 when he may make a plea or set a trial date.
Reiffers has been ordered to have no contact with the female victim.
