Former shelter dog and local hero Peanut shares a smile while getting some attention during “Peanut Day” Wednesday at the Delta Animal Shelter in Escanaba. The event was held to honor Peanut, who has been attributed to alerting her owner of a three-year-old girl who was found unclothed and cold in a ditch in Rapid River on St. Patrick’s Day. During the celebration Wednesday, residents and visitors alike had the chance to meet Peanut and her owners, Rapid River residents Kathyrn and Kyle Frisk. Cake and refreshments were also served.
