Plea made in Escanaba robbery

ESCANABA — A 22-year-old Escanaba man recently entered a plea in court for his role in an armed robbery at an Escanaba hotel last summer.

During a recent hearing in Delta County Circuit Court, Jordan Randall Steinhausen pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting a larceny in a building. He was among four people arrested in connection with an armed robbery at the Quality Inn and Suites in Escanaba on Aug. 15, 2016 when two masked males stole cash from a clerk.

Steinhausen is scheduled to be sentenced on the four-year felony in circuit court on April 7.

The other three co-defendants are Devin Joseph Wallendal, 21, Jacob Allen Christopher Jones, 18, and Tristen Lee Snow, 18, all of Escanaba.

Earlier this month, Wallendal was sentenced to 12 months in jail after pleading guilty to being an accessory to a felony after the fact for helping to plan the Escanaba robbery and hide evidence.

Jones is charged with one count of aiding and abetting an armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, both life felonies. Jones’ case is pending in Delta County District Court where he is scheduled for a preliminary examination on April 6.

Snow is charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, each a life felony. He was scheduled for a pretrial conference in Delta County Circuit Court last week, but that hearing was postponed until March 24 because of charges pending against him in Marquette County Circuit Court involving robberies in that county the day after the Escanaba robbery.

Snow, Steinhausen, and Jones were all arrested in connection with armed robberies at America’s Best Value Inn and Kassel’s Korner, both in Chocolay Township in Marquette County on Aug. 16, 2016.

Steinhausen was sentenced to three years to up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to larceny from a person in Marquette County Circuit Court.

Snow and Jones are each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and four counts of armed robbery, all life felonies. They remain lodged in the Marquette County Jail each in lieu of a $1 million bond.

Snow is scheduled to make a plea in Marquette County Circuit Court next month.

Jones’ case is pending in Marquette County Circuit Court due to final paperwork regarding a competency examination.
