One injured when semi truck strikes pickup
GLADSTONE — A Gladstone man was injured when a semi truck failed to stop at an intersection and struck his pickup truck in Gladstone on Thursday, according to a news release from Gladstone Public Safety.
A semi hauling a load of lumber was northbound on U.S. 2 & 41 when it failed to stop for a red light at the M-35 intersection and struck a westbound pickup at 4:30 p.m., said police, adding the semi jack-knifed and lost its load of wood.
The pickup driver, of Gladstone, was transported by ambulance to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. His name and condition were unavailable this morning.
The semi driver, of Dollar Bay, was cited by police for failing to stop for a red light.
Assisting public safety were Rampart Emergency Medical Services and Gene’s Towing. Iverson’s Home Center also assisted in cleaning up at the scene.
