Man gets prison for domestic violence

ESCANABA — A Garden resident was recently sentenced to prison on one count of domestic violence, third offense, in connection with an assault in Escanaba last fall.

Ian Clinton Goldi, 33, of 15427 16th Road, Garden, was originally arrested on one count of assault by strangulation, a 10-year felony, following a Sept. 8, 2016 incident in Escanaba, according to police and court records.

He later pleaded guilty to domestic violence, third offense, during a hearing in Delta County Circuit Court. After posting $20,000 (10 percent of a $200,000 bond), he was released from police custody. He was ordered to have no contact with the female victim.

During sentencing in circuit court this month, Goldi was sentenced to a minimum of one year and four months to up to five years in prison. He was given credit for serving 94 days in jail. He was ordered to pay $698 in fines and costs.
