Voter forum planned on Oct. 24

ESCANABA — The League of Women Voters of Delta County, in conjunction with the American Association of University Women and the Delta County Chamber of Commerce, announces a candidate forum on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m,. at the Escanaba City Hall. The forum will feature candidates for the 38th Senate, the 108th State Representative and the Bay College Board of Trustees. Moderator Shannon Taylor will open the forum with introductions and the question period will begin immediately following opening statements.

The forum will consist of two segments. The first segment will feature the candidates for both the 38th Senate and the 108th State Representative races. Candidates running for the 38th State Senate are Ed McBroom (R), Scott Dianda (D) and Wade Paul Roberts (G). The 108th State Representative candidates are Beau LaFave (R) and Bob Romps (D). The second segment features the Bay Board of Trustees candidates. Running for a partial term are Stephen Davis and Steve O’Driscoll. Candidates running for a full term are Tom Butch, Tom England, Terri Mileski and Bill Milligan. The forum will conclude with closing statements.

The forum will be broadcast live on channel 191 and on WDBC 680 radio. The League will provide a printed voter guide prior to the general election and also provides a free, non-partisan, online voter guide at Vote411.org. Both guides can assist Delta County voters in making informed decisions when they vote in the general election. When visiting Vote411.org and clicking on My Ballot voters can read responses to questions posed to all the candidates running in the general election, if they responded. Vote411.org also helps voters find their polling place, check voting hours and read tips about voting in Michigan.

Remember to vote on Nov. 6. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
