Free nitrate and well water screening set

GLADSTONE — The Delta Conservation District is offering a free private drinking water well screening for Nitrates and Nitrites utilizing a water quality strip test Monday, Aug. 27, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any small clean jar works.

You only need an ounce of water. Run the water for 20-30 minutes before collecting the sample. Collect water at an untreated faucet (no water softeners or filters). It is best if samples are taken the day of testing. Keep sample cold until they are dropped off. Label the bottle clearly with your name and sampling date. Samples must be less than 48 hours old for a valid nitrate result. You will need to fill out a quick form when dropping of sample.

Bring your samples to the USDA Service Center – Natural Resources Conservation Service/Delta Conservation District Office, at 2003 Minneapolis Ave., Gladstone. The building is located next to the Gladstone Subway. For questions or additional information contact Holly Moss, MAEAP Technician, Delta Conservation District at 906-428-1060. ext. 3. Sample informational sheets are available at the office.
