Civic center lists weekly programs

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Recreation Department has planned a wide variety of programs for citizens young and old. Civic Center schedules, program information and sign-up forms are available at the City of Escanaba’s website for the Escanaba Recreation Department at www.escanaba.org. The recreation offices are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Students are not charged a fee to utilize the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center. Adult open use of the gym, game room and pistol/archery range requires a daily use fee or an annual use fee. Fees can be paid at the Recreation.

Students in grades fourth through 12th are welcome at the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center from Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 to 8 p.m. The facility is a supervised environment with use of the game room and gym. There is also WiFi with laptops available for use. Snacks will be provided after school to students. Additionally, there are books and board games available.

Pickleball – Play pickleball in the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring your own paddles or use ours (limited number available). Other times available for play, based on availability and gym scheduling.

Adult Open Game Room – The Civic Center’s fully equipped game room includes four full-size pool tables, two youth-size pool tables, bull’s eye, two ping-pong tables, three foosball tables, two air hockey tables and one bumper pool table. Open Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Womens Open Volleyball – Open to all women on a drop-in basis. Power volleyball is not permitted. Games are held in the gym on Monday and Wednesday from 12 to 2:30 p.m.

Mens Recreational Basketball – Open to all men on a drop-in basis. Games are held in the gym on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 6 to 7:30 a.m., subject to enough players. A call list is put together for confirmed play time.
