Pinecrest holds open house in Powers

POWERS — Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers held an open house on Tuesday, July 3, to showcase the facility, as well as its smaller homes called “Greenhouses” and its Whispering Pines facilities.

On display from each home were pictures of outings and activities residents participate in. The Dietary Department displayed the menus and information about the constant changes made to improve the residents’ meals using the resident choices. Maintenance displayed an overview of the departments work to keep the building up to date. The 2017 Financial Audit information was also displayed.

A Time Line of Pinecrest throughout the years showed changes that have occurred. Pinecrest started as a TB sanitarium and has gone through several renovations to improve the facility for the people it has served since the early ’60s.

“We now have many private rooms, a beautiful therapy department for inpatient and outpatient therapy. We have a special care unit for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s, and two smaller homes, called “Greenhouses” to afford residents living there a smaller, quieter home-like atmosphere. We also have our Whispering Pines entity, which has homes that care for the developmentally disabled,” Pinecrest officials said in a press release. “We look forward to continuing to care for our residents, their families and the Counties of Delta, Dickinson and Menominee.”
