OSF HealthCare has mental health services tool
ESCANABA — OSF HealthCare is rolling out SilverCloud Health, an online tool designed to provide patients with easy and immediate access to evidence-based, cognitive behavioral therapy programs. The application offers supportive content for a range of mental and behavioral health issues such as depression, anxiety and stress.
SilverCloud can be utilized via handheld device, computer or laptop and consists of up to seven interactive modules that can be completed in any order, over an eight to 10 week period. The anonymous and secure platform is built to empower patients to take charge and be actively engaged in their treatment. These include mindfulness exercises, interactive journaling, mood and lifestyle charting.
“With an ever-growing need to fill a gap in mental health services nationwide, SilverCloud will help us provide greater access to treatment for common mental disorders,” said Cheryl Crowe, director of behavioral health for OSF. “This application will not replace mental health providers, but will help us reach those patients with mild to moderate levels of anxiety and depression and are open to online therapy.”
The application is made to work with and without the assistance of behavioral health supporters at OSF who can monitor progress, provide encouragement and deliver guidance catered to a patient’s personal situation. Providers can also collect detailed analytics and reports to track the program’s effectiveness and user engagement levels.
OSF plans to expand access to SilverCloud throughout the organization. Those interested in learning whether the online tool could benefit them should make an appointment with their primary care provider.
