Community Foundation helps U.P. flood area
ESCANABA — The Community Foundation For Delta County has given a $2,500 grant to the Keweenaw Community Foundation to assist with the cleanup and repair of damage caused by a recent severe thunderstorm and the resulting flood devastation. According to Foundation Board Chair David Williams, the foundation, in conjunction with seven other affiliates of the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula, granted the Keweenaw Community Foundation $10,000 to help with the cleanup.
“When a disaster of this kind strikes anywhere in the Upper Peninsula, all the citizens rally and pitch in to come to the aide of those affected by the disaster. The people of the Upper Peninsula are caring, generous people and can always be counted on to offer assistance to their brother and sister residents. Our thoughts and prayers are with the citizens of the Keweenaw,” Williams said.
