Hope at the Inn volunteer training set
ESCANABA — A training session for homeless shelter volunteers is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, at Christ the King at 1230 N. 18th St., Escanaba. The training is geared for new volunteers, but those wanting a refresher or to learn more about the shelter are welcome.
e trainings last about 75 minutes — no pre-registration needed. Attendees will learn about the shelter concept and specific duties for each shift. This will be the last training for the current season. New trainings will start again early fall.
Shelter volunteers are needed to provide an evening meal, and staff three shelter shifts each day from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. 10:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., and 3 to 8 a.m. each day. The location rotates weekly among 13 churches each year from November to April. HATI has provided over 500 bed nights since opening for its fifth season in November.
