Defendants bound over from district court to Delta County Circuit Court
ESCANABA — The following individuals were recently bound over from Delta County District Court to circuit court in unrelated cases.
Venetia Ann Shinnaberry, 23, of 6043 Rivers 22nd Road, Gladstone, was bound over to circuit court on three counts of uttering and publishing, each a 14-year felony, and two counts of larceny in a building, each a four-year felony with a maximum fine of $5,000. The charges stem from incidents from Nov. 23 to Dec. 6, 2017 in Escanaba Township involving the theft of personal checks including three written out for $800, $2,000 and $4,000. Shinnaberry posted a $5,000 bond and was released from police custody. She was ordered to have no contact with the two victims.
James Robert Smith III, 37, of 510 1st Ave. S., Apt. 1706, Escanaba, was bound over to circuit court on one count of controlled substance – delivery/manufacture of a schedule 1, 2 or 3 drug except marijuana, a seven-year felony with a maximum fine of $10,000. The charge stems from a Feb. 21, 2017, incident in Escanaba involving the drug Buprenorphine. Smith posted a $500 cash bond and was released from police custody. He was ordered to have no controlled substances and must undergo random drug testing.
Christy Marie LaPalme, 36, of 1620 Willow Creek Road, #26, Escanaba, was bound over to circuit court on two counts of larceny in a building, each a four-year felony with a maximum fine of $5,000. The charges stem from incidents at Lakestate Industries in Escanaba from Sept. 15-22, 2017. LaPalme posted a $1,000 cash bond. She was ordered to not enter Lakestate Industries.
Dates will be set in circuit court for the above individuals to make a plea or schedule a trial.
