Bikes downtown on city council agenda
ESCANABA — At its regular meeting Thursday, Escanaba City Council will consider recommendations on the use of bicycles and skateboards on Ludington Street sidewalks as presented by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
During council’s Sept. 7 meeting, members assigned the DDA to review the issue and make recommendations to council. The DDA board met during an Oct. 11 work session and agreed bicycles and skateboards should be allowed on the sidewalks with pedestrians having the right-of-way.
In other business, council will be updated on the management of phragmites, an evasive species in Delta County.
Thursday’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.
