Trio Dolce to give holiday concert at Bay

ESCANABA — Bay College announces the Marquette Symphony Orchestra Series is returning on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Besse Center Theater with Trio Dolce. The audience members will experience the definition of ‘dolce’ first-hand. A musical term that means “sweetly”, dolce perfectly describes the flute, violin and cello trio from Marquette. The three ladies — Claudia Drosen, flute; Janis Peterson, violin; Anne Perket, cello; all section leaders in the Marquette Symphony — have known each other for many years and when they put their instrumental sounds together, dolce is the result.

The Tuesday evening concert will take the listener on a musical journey through time from the Baroque music of Telemann, through the Classical era with Haydn and on to music from the Romantic and modern time periods. The group will also play some works by lesser known composers like Ignazio Raimondi and Maria Millar. The evening will conclude with a few holiday hits like Winter Wonderland and Silver Bells.

Tickets may be purchased at the box office or on Bay’s website at Box office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Doors open at 7 p.m. on day of performance.
