Cases sent to circuit court

ESCANABA — The following individuals were recently bound over from Delta County District Court to circuit court in unrelated cases.

Leah Lorraine Wilder, 27, of 1909 8th Ave. S., Escanaba, was bound over on the following counts: attempted to disarm a firearm from a police officer, a five-year felony; assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, a two-year felony with a maximum fine of $2,000; and assault or assault and battery, a 93-day misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $500. The charges stem from a Sept. 18, 2017 incident in Escanaba involving an Escanaba Public Safety officer and a female victim. Bond was set at $5,000 — or 10 percent of a $50,000 bond.

Brandon Kip Wandahsega, 41, of 501 S. 13th St., No. 1, Escanaba, was bound over on two counts of sex offender failure to comply with the sex offender registration act, a four-year felony with a maximum fine of $2,000, and one count of sex offender failure to comply with reporting duties, a two-year misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $2,000. The charges stem from a Sept. 6, 2017 incident in Escanaba. Bond was set at $2,000 cash.

Manuel Ortega Gaona, 35, of 1330 Stephenson Ave., Escanaba, was bound over on one count of criminal sexual conduct, fourth degree, a two-year high-court misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $500. The charge stems from a Sept. 3, 2017 incident in Escanaba. Bond was set at 10 percent of $50,000. Gaona was ordered to have no contact with the victim and cannot leave the county. He must not exhibit abusive or assaultive behavior.

Ernest Edward Hubbard, 77, of 3711 U.S. 2 & 41, Escanaba, was bound over on one count of criminal sexual conduct, fourth degree, a two-year high-court misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $500. The charge stems from a May 2017 incident in Wells Township. Hubbard posted a $2,500 bond. Hubbard was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Donald Macy Wright II, 31, Port Charlotte, Fla., was bound over on one count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, a two-year felony with a maximum fine of $2,000, and one count of domestic violence, a 93-day misdemeanor. Wright was ordered to have no contact with the female victim. He was ordered to have no drugs or alcohol. He is not to enter bars and must undergo random drug testing. Cash bond was set at $2,000.

Dates will be set in circuit court for the above individuals to make a plea or schedule a trial.
