New vocal group seeks members
ESCANABA — The Esky Pops Community Choir will be hold rehearsals on Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. Singers and instrumentalists are being recruited for the choir’s first season, which starts Sunday.
Two-hour practices are held each Sunday afternoon at Central United Methodist Church, located at 322 S. Lincoln Road, Escanaba. No choral experience is necessary to participate, though members must be willing to practice on their own and work in a groups under the direction of Choir Director Travis Dubord.
Although the new choir meets at Central United Methodist Church and some members have come from church choirs, the new group has no links to the church.
Interested singers are invited to come to the first session of the season, get acquainted with the group, its songs, and see if there’s a fit. No auditions or try-outs are required.
Some instrumentalists are also needed each week, with more becoming involved closer to performance dates. As well as making great music together, The Esky Pops work on vocal technique to help your singing skills, your vocal production and your performance. It is a fun, dynamic, and enthusiastic choir with lots of energy. And for those who want even more, there’s a great social scene too — so come along, make new like-minded friends, and do something you love to do!
The Esky Pops would like welcome all individuals ages 16 to 116 to join this fun, exciting and new opportunity. The group’s focus will be on modern music, hits of the 60s thru 2000s, as well as stage and film musical selections. So, come and join the fun, you’ll be glad you did.
The Esky Pops will be accepting new members now through June 4, but don’t delay, space may be limited.
