Minor injuries reported in accident
MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash involving minor injuries. The crash occurred on Tuesday, March 14, at approximately 8:35 a.m. just north of the county fairgrounds along M-553 in Sands Township.
A 2012 Chevy four-door driven by Escanaba resident Dominique Bougie, 23, was traveling north in a pack on vehicles when those vehicles slowed due to slippery conditions. Bougie also slowed but lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line into the path of a 2015 Ford van driven by Marquette resident Craig West, 36.
Heavy snow was falling and the roads were considered very icy and slippery. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. Officers attribute the accident only resulting in minor injuries to the use of safety belts and the vehicle’s airbags. Ms. Bougie was at fault in the crash and cited for Violation of the basic law-too fast for conditions.
