Dosh assumes hospice medical director role

ESCANABA — OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group announces Steven Dosh, MD, has accepted the position of hospice medical director. In addition, Mark Povich, DO, and Francie Myrick, MD, will serve as hospice physicians, assisting Dr. Dosh in caring for patients at OSF Hospice, Escanaba.

Dr. Dosh succeeds Dr. Ronald Bissett, who served as hospice medical director until his retirement in January. In addition to his new role, Dr. Dosh will also continue his internal medicine practice at OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group.

Dr. Dosh has great longevity with OSF, beginning in 1980 when he began serving the Gladstone community. He previously served as hospice medical director for Bay de Noc Hospice for 10 years, prior to its integration with OSF HealthCare.

“I’ve always had an interest in end-of-life care and missed it after I was no longer serving as medical director for Bay de Noc Hospice. When Dr. Bissett retired, I was happy to take on the role, knowing what a vital service it is to our community,” said Dr. Dosh.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Dr. Dosh completed his residency at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, N.Y., with a focus in internal medicine. Dr. Dosh is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Dosh is married to Kathleen and has four grown children and seven grandchildren. In his leisure time, he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, playing classical guitar and is active in his church.
