Arts Center plans student talent show

ESCANABA — Area students in grades K-12 can become a part of this spring’s Youth in Art talent show by performing at a welcoming audition session March 4, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the Bonifas Arts Center (BAC).

Any type of performing artist is encouraged to audition, including dancers, comedians, singers, jugglers, musicians, magicians, poets, and actors, so that the talent show can showcase and celebrate the diversity of students’ creativity, said Carla Meyer, BAC special events coordinator.

To avoid waiting, auditions can be scheduled by calling Meyer at 786-3833. Walk-ins can audition at the first available time, but Meyer strongly recommended scheduling.

All community members can support young artists and take in their performances at the talent show March 18 at 7 p.m. at the BAC. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children, free for kids age five and under.

Meyer hopes area teachers and other community members will tell talented youths about the show and encourage them to audition, reassuring shy or hesitant students that they will be warmly welcomed at the audition and talent show, she said.
