Woman charged in theft from home

ESCANABA TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old Gladstone female was recently charged with a 15-year felony for being an accomplice in the theft of clothing from an Escanaba Township home last summer.

Sabrina Rae Hoffman, of 1307 Wisconsin Ave., Gladstone, was charged with one count of second-degree home invasion in Delta County District Court and was later bound over to circuit court where she may make a plea or set a trial date.

The charge stems from an incident on Aug. 19, 2016 when Hoffman allegedly drove another suspect to a house on Westridge Drive where a larceny occurred, according to the Delta County Sheriff’s Department, the investigating agency.

Following Hoffman’s arrest, she posted a $5,000 cash bond and was released from police custody last month.

The other suspect — a juvenile who allegedly entered the home without permission and stole clothing — has been turned over to probate court. Some of the stolen items have been recovered, according to the sheriff’s department.
