Community Foundation taking grant requests

ESCANABA — The Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula’s Mental Health Advisory Committee is accepting grant requests from eligible non-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations and other eligible groups that provide mental health services to youth and adolescents with an emphasis on low income and Native American populations. Suicide prevention programs are eligible.

Grant applications will be available immediately by contacting the foundation office by phone at (906) 789-5972 or via email at office@cfup.org. Grant applications must be received at the office of the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula by 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, in order to be considered.

Applicants may not seek a grant if they are seeking funds for a project or program due to a reduction of their project or program funding from any governmental source. Also, no grant will be made for any type of construction project (bricks and mortar) as well as the purchase of equipment.

Grant applications received by 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, will be reviewed by the foundation’s Mental Health Advisory Grant Committee on Feb. 22. Those who are recommended by the advisory committee will be presented to the Board of Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula for action at its meeting on Feb. 28. All applicants will be notified whether or not their application has been granted or not granted, as soon as possible after the CFUP Board take’s action.
