Diabetes Prevention Program starts July 19

ESCANABA – A National Diabetes Prevention Program will be offered beginning July 19 in Escanaba.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program is an evidence-based, year-long lifestyle change program for men and women with prediabetes or at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

Organizers say the program is proven to help people lose weight and prevent or delay onset of type 2 diabetes by 58 percent.

Classes will be held Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. from July 19 through Nov. 1. Monthly meetings will follow from December to June.

The free class will take place at the M-Tec building at Bay College, 2000 N. 30th St., in Escanaba.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program is offered by the Northern Lights YMCA-Delta Program Center in conjunction with Public Health, Delta & Menominee Counties.
