Independent Insurance Agent Day Feb. 21
LANSING — Gov. Rick Snyder has declared Feb. 21 as Independent
Insurance Agents Day in Michigan in recognition of the vital role independent insurance agents have in
their communities and in the Michigan economy.
Independent insurance agents provide insurance from multiple carriers so they can offer a wide range of insurance solutions to help protect individuals, families and businesses from financial hardship.
There are more than 23,000 Independent Insurance Agents in Michigan.
Insurance sales agents have been identified by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) as one of Michigan’s Hot 50 high-demand, high-wage careers through 2024.
Independent agents support high school and college insurance risk programs exposing students to careers as insurance agents and a vast number of other insurance career options.
The Governor’s proclamation joins with the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents to applaud the entrepreneurial spirit of Michigan’s independent insurance agents who are small, medium and large businesses working to make a difference in every community throughout the state.
