CUPPAD offers business workshops
ESCANABA — With funding from the Regional Prosperity Initiative, the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Regional Commission (CUPPAD) will be offering various workshops in the coming months: Energy Efficiency Education for small business and agricultural producers, and Website Building 101 for local units of government.
CUPPAD is partnering with Michigan Energy Options (MEO) and Michigan State University Extension offices to hold workshops around the Region to educate small business owners, agricultural producers, and farmers about energy efficiency and technical energy audits. Technical energy audits differ from typical audits provided by utilities. Michigan Energy Options, a statewide clean energy nonprofit with an office in Marquette, will be available at these workshops to discuss these technical audits in more detail and review other services they provide. Workshops in Stephenson and Marquette will be focused on agriculture with MSU Extension educators, but small businesses can still attend. As part of these workshops, CUPPAD will be looking for interested participants for a 2018 REAP Grant opportunity through USDA, where 75 percent of the cost for a technical energy audit is covered by the grant. Workshop schedule is as follows: Sept. 19, Escanaba; Sept. 20, Iron Mountain; Oct. 3, Stephenson; Oct. 4, Marquette; Oct. 10, Wetmore; Oct. 11, Manistique. More information is available on CUPPAD’s website, www.cuppad.org, or you can contact Nathan Fazer by calling 906-786-9234 ext. 1377. The workshops will focus primarily on working with WordPress. Workshops will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the following dates: Aug. 29, Iron Mountain; Aug. 30, Stephenson; Sept. 6, Escanaba; Sept. 7, Wetmore; Sept. 11, Marquette; Sept. 14, Manistique.
