Elks Auxiliary meeting

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks Auxiliary will hold its April meeting on Thursday, April 4. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m. with the meeting to follow.

The automatic reservation list will be in effect. Reservations or cancellations can be made by calling Shirley at 789-9306 or emailing her at gollachs@yahoo.com by noon on Monday, April 1.

No April Lions buffet

ROCK — The Rock Lions Club will not host the breakfast buffet in April due to Easter. Starting in May, breakfast will resume on the third Sunday of the month, as usual.

Christian Closet closed

ESCANABA — The Christian Closet at the Escanaba Church of Christ in Soo Hill will be closed on Wednesday, April 3. The next day that the Christian Closet will be open is Wednesday, May 1.

Book Club to meet

RAPID RIVER — Any Weir’s “Artemis” is Rapid Readers’ novel for April. The group will meet at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. New members are welcome. Contact Peg Netchey at 428-9668 if there are questions.

NAMI to meet Monday

MARQUETTE — The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette offers free, confidential peer support groups and educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness.

A support group will gather Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Baraga Place Conference Room, 129 West Baraga Avenue, Marquette. For more information, call 906-360-7107, visit www.namiam.org or follow the group on Facebook.

If NMU cancels evening classes due to weather, the NAMI meeting will also be canceled.

Women’s veterans group to meet in Manistique

MANISTIQUE — A women’s veterans group will meet at The 40 Bar and Grill, 100 S. 2nd Street, Manistique, Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. The only requirement to attend is having served in the military. No era, no duration, no rank or rating is required.

Spring fling event at Amvets March 29-30

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 N. Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is having a spring fling weekend Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30. Both days will feature classic rock, country, and variety music by the Bearwalkers band.

The event will take place Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 12 p.m. The public is welcome.

St. Joseph class of 1954

ESCANABA — It’s time for the St. Joseph Class of 1954 to hold its 65th class reunion. There is some discussion about joining with the Escanaba Class of 1954, which is also planning a reunion.

Menominee County Library sets new hours

STEPHENSON — The Menominee County Library has new hours starting April 1. Hours are Monday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed Sunday.

Library programs are free and everyone is welcome. Upcoming events and programs can be found on the Library webpage, or patrons can “like” the library on Facebook to receive notices.

Toddler Storytime with a craft and snack is held every Friday at 10 a.m.

Feel free to stop in and join the discussion with the Turning Leaves Book Club. The group meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. April’s selection is “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore” by Robin Sloan — contact the library to reserve a copy.
