Legion Post 115 to meet March 13

FLAT ROCK — The monthly meeting of the Escanaba River American Legion Post 115 and Auxiliary will be held at the Escanaba Township Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13.

Elks plan March activities

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 will end the month with the installation of officers on March 30.

Friday night dinners will be served from 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday brunch is scheduled for March 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated with a sing-along and Rubens beginning at 3 p.m. on March 17, and steak night is slated for Thursday, March 21.

Members and guests are welcome.

St. Thomas breakfast

ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 1820 9th Ave North in Escanaba, will serve breakfast Sunday, March 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parish hall. Children five and under eat free. All are welcome.

Veteran Service Officer hours for Wednesday

HERMANSVILLE — Mike Dellisse, Menominee County Veterans Service Officer, will be holding office hours on Wednesday, March 6 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Floriano-Stecker-Kelly American Legion Hall in Hermansville.

Veterans or widows that need assistance with the Veterans Administration, claims with the Administration, Agent Orange, headstones, gravemarkers, or information on the Oscar Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain should see Dellisse during his visit to Hermansville.

If you have any questions on the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund for Menominee County, Dellisse can help.

You need not belong to any service organization to see Dellisse, and his services are free.

Toastmasters to meet

ESCANABA — Bay De Noc Toastmasters develops communication and leadership skills every Wednesday, except the last Wednesday of the month, at noon in the Penstar Building, located at 1431 N. 26th St. in Escanaba.

Third Sunday breakfast

ROCK — The Rock Lions ‘monthly third-Sunday, all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will take place on the third Sunday of every month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rock Lions Club on Hwy. M-35 in Rock. There is a fee for the breakfast, but children age five and under eat free.

The Rock Lions Clubhouse is available for rent by calling Jerry at 906-356-6475.

The Rock Lions Club is a non-profit service organization that provides funding for charitable organizations and local needs.

Taco Tuesday at American Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71, located at 802 Delta Avenue in Gladstone, will be having Taco Tuesday from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Sit-n-fit exercise class

ESCANABA — Fitness chair exercises to improve strength, stretching, balance, flexibility and muscle will be held every Monday and Friday at 11a.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.

Opportunity offered to save memories

ESCANABA — OSF Hospice is offering the “Life Memories” program. The Life Memories program allows OSF Hospice patients who are in the final stages of life the opportunity to relive and relate their memories for their loved ones. Volunteers conduct the person’s “life story” interviews and record them to DVD. The program is a free service to their patients and their families. All information is kept confidential. Those interested in participating should contact OSF Hospice at 786-3915.
