VA benefit presentation

Gladstone Seniors to hold can drive Feb. 10

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Senior Class 2019 will be going door to door picking up returnable cans on Sunday, Feb. 10 from noon till 3 p.m. If you want to donate cans, students will be by to pick them up for you. If you won’t be home, you can leave the cans in a bag by the door. Alternatively, call 906-399-4471 if you want to schedule a different time for pick up.

The Gladstone Seniors are raising money for their Senior All Night Party. This party is planned and organized by the parents so the graduating seniors can have a safe celebration with their classmates before starting their next chapter in life.

MARSP to meet

MANISTIQUE — MARSP members from Schoolcraft and Eastern Delta counties will hold their luncheon meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at The Grind, located at 111 River St. in Manistique, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Patricia Newby from the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter will be the guest speaker.

There is a cost for the luncheon, payable at the door. Call 283-3209 by Sunday, Feb. 10 if interested in attending. New members are welcome.

Rapid River Readers change meeting date

RAPID RIVER — Rapid Readers will meet Thursday, Feb. 21 — not Feb. 14 as originally scheduled — at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River.

Allen Esken’s “The Life We Bury” is the novel to be discussed at the 10 a.m. meeting. New members are welcome. Questions can be directed to Peg Netchey at 428-9668.

Advanced Lions Club sets next meeting date

WELLS — Organizers would like to thank everyone who attended the informational discussion of the Advanced Lions Club. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Wells Township Hall at 6 p.m. Email inquiries to bdnlclub@yahoo.com.

Mill retirees to hold meeting Wednesday

ESCANABA — The Mill Retirees group will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Union Hall on Sheridan Road at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be provided, and there will be a 50/50 drawing.

All mill retirees are invited to attend. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month.

American Legion meets

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River American Legion meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Feb. 5.

Democratic Party to hold meeting Feb. 6

ESCANABA — The Delta County Democratic Party will hold its monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at USW Union Hall, 1201 Sheridan Rd., Escanaba. Social time is at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

Taco Tuesday at American Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71, located at 802 Delta Avenue in Gladstone, will be having Taco Tuesday from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday.
