Bible study to begin in Ludington Park Sunday
ESCANABA — Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene will be holding a basic Bible study entitled “The Journey” by Dr. Chic Shaver beginning Sunday, Sept. 9.
The eight-week study will be led by Pastor Ann Salyer and will take place in Ludington Park near the gazebo at 1:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

Breakfast this weekend at St. Thomas Parish
ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 1820 9th Avenue North, Escanaba, will be serving breakfast this Sunday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The breakfast is open to the public, and children five and under eat free.
Annual Forest Service Retirees’ breakfast

Cedar Creek Country Band performs tonight
ESCANABA — The Cedar Creek Country Band is scheduled to perform live Friday, Sept. 7 at the Amvets Hall in Escanaba from 7 to 11 p.m. A donation will be accepted at the door. All are welcome.
Elks Friday night dinners resume tonight
ESCANABA –The Escanaba Elks 354 will be serving their Friday night dinners starting tonight, from 5-9 pm.
The card raffle will resume tonight also. Members and guests are welcome.
Program on effective communication planned
ESCANABA — The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting an educational program/talk about effective communication at the Escanaba Public Library (400 Ludington Street) from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 20.
MARSP meeting set for Sept. 12 in Garden
GARDEN — The Sept. 12 MARSP meeting will take place in Garden at the Sidetracked Restaurant on 15710 18th Road. Attendees are asked to gather at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and enjoy a presentation by a representative from the Village Artisan/Garden Gallery.
All retired school personnel from Schoolcraft and Eastern Delta Counties are welcome to attend.
Dance in Rock Sunday
ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd, on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 1 to 5 p.m. Music will be provided by The County Express. There is a cost to attend the dance, and a free will donation lunch will be available.

Lecture series at East Ludington Gallery
ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery, 1007 Ludington St. Escanaba, will be having a lecture series the third Thursday of every month.
This month will be Beth Cox presenting “How Glass Paperweights are Made.”
It will be on Sept. 20 from 7 to 8 p.m., and it is open to the public free of charge.
Fish or chicken dinner in Gladstone Sept. 14
GLADSTONE — A dinner featuring fried fish or chicken will take place Friday, Sept. 14 at Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1920 Lake Shore Ave. in Gladstone.
Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kids age 7 and under eat free.
A community concert will follow at 8 p.m. with a free will offering.
