Amvets host Country Express band Friday

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country and variety band Country Express on Friday, Aug. 10 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.

Kennel Club to hold general meeting tonight

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Kennel Club will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, August 9 at 7 p.m. at the Kennel Club Building, located at 6687 N.75 Dr. Escanaba (just north of the Wells Sports Complex, next to the baseball field). The public is welcome to attend.

Please see the club’s website, www.baydenockennelclub.com, for walk-in puppy socialization classes and a new puppy structured certificate class, as well as obedience, agility, and nosework classes.

Legion steak feeds and breakfasts cancelled

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone will not be having any steak feeds or breakfasts until September.

VBS planned at Rapid River Congregational

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Congregational Church will hold its vacation Bible school Aug. 20-24, from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. The theme of this years school is “The Gloryland Express.” It will feature stories, games, food, and crafts.

Breakfast planned in Rapid River Sunday

RAPID RIVER — Join Rapid River American Legion Post 301 as they celebrate school teacher sat the 2nd Sunday ‘All You Can Eat’ Breakfast on Sunday Aug. 12 at the Rapid River Legion Post 301 hall from 8 a.m. to noon.

There is a fee for the breakfast, but children age four and under eat free.

St. Anthony’s pasty sale planned for Aug. 16-17

WELLS — St. Anthony’s Church is holding a pasty sale on Thursday, Aug. 16, and Friday, Aug. 17. Pasties are available with or without rutabaga.

Pickup is at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba from 2 to 5 p.m. To pre-order, call Debbie at 399-4259.

Come and Dance With Us event scheduled

TRENARY — On Sunday, Aug. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Trenary Community Building in Trenary there will be a “Come and Dance with Us” event. Music will be provided by Old Folks.

Admission will be charged. Everyone is welcome.

East Ludington Gallery lecture series continues

ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery, located at 1007 Ludington Street in Escanaba, is having a lecture series with lectures on the third Thursday of every month.

The next lecture will take place on Aug. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. This lecture will be “Working with Copper” presented by Steve Messimer. The talk will discuss the characteristics of copper work, tools, and more. It is open to the public free of charge.

Grief Group meeting planned for Wednesday

ESCANABA — As an extension of their community grief groups, OSF Hospice will host a monthly luncheon for bereaved people to gather for informal conversation and support on the third Wednesday of the month throughout 2018. The next meeting will take place on Aug. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (EST) at Drifters Family Restaurant in Escanaba.

No Taco Tuesdays

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone will not be having Taco Tuesdays for the months of July and August.
