Mix and Mingle event cancelled for Aug. 4

ESCANABA — The Mix and Mingle Recreating in the Great Outdoors event has been cancelled for Aug. 4.

1953 graduates to gather Aug. 6 in Esky

ESCANABA — The 1953 graduates of Escanaba and St. Joseph will gather on Monday, Aug. 6.

A noon lunch is planned for the ’53 graduates at Hereford and Hops. Participants will order off the menu. Carol Mosher needs to know how many to expect for seating. She can be reached at (906) 474-9962.

After the lunch, classmates will gather at the Elks for an afternoon of reminiscing and conversing about the past 65 years. It’s informal, and no reservations are needed. If your are a ’53 graduate or a spouse, the class would like to see you.

Amvets hosting Angels and Outlaws Friday

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, will feature country band Angels and Outlaws from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 27. The public is welcome.

Wells Lions 52 week raffle winner announced

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of July 23 is Tricia Anderson of Escanaba. Anderson won $100. This was week 51 of the raffle.

Christian Closet to open

ESCANABA — Families and individuals in need will be welcome to visit the Christian Closet and select from an assortment of gently used clothing and shoes of all sizes, non-perishable food items, household supplies, and more. Everything will be available free of charge.

The Christian Closet is located in the Escanaba Church of Christ building, located in Soo Hill at 5079 18th Road, Escanaba.

The Christian Closet will be open on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The next day the closet will be open is Aug. 1.

Eagles plan breakfast

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve their 5th Sunday breakfast on Sunday, July 29 at the Eagles Hall 608 Ludington Street, Escanaba.

A fee will be charged. Public is welcome to attend.

East Ludington Gallery lecture series continues

ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery, located at 1007 Ludington Street in Escanaba, is having a lecture series with lectures on the third Thursday of every month.

The next lecture will take place on on Aug. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. This lecture will be “Working with Copper,” presented by Steve Messimer. The talk will discuss the characteristics of copper work, tools, and more. It is open to the public free of charge.

MARSP to meet Aug. 7

GLADSTONE — The Delta County Chapter of MARSP will hold its August meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Gladstone, starting at noon. Lunch will be provided at a cost.

The program will consist of a legislative update and the annual memorial service for deceased members.

Old-time Radio Variety Hour set for Aug. 11

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 210 South Lincoln Road in Escanaba, will be featuring an old-time radio variety hour on Aug. 11 at 6 p.m.

The Strong Tower Radio Quartet and other local talent, including students from surrounding area schools, will be preforming.
