East Ludington Gallery lecture series continues

ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery, located at 1007 Ludington Street in Escanaba, is having a lecture series with lectures on the third Thursday of every month.

The next lecture will take place on on Aug. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. This lecture will be “Working with Copper” presented by Steve Messimer. The talk will discuss the characteristics of copper work, tools, and more. It is open to the public free of charge.

Holy Name Class of 1958 to hold reunion

ESCANABA — The 60th reunion of the Holy Name High School Class of 1958 will be held on Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 18.

DAV to hold meeting

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, located at 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

All disabled veterans are welcome.

Dance in Rock Aug. 12

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Maple Ridge Road, on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. Come enjoy the music of Angels & Outlaws.

There is a fee for the dance and a free will donation lunch will be ­provided. For more info call Alice at (906) 356-6588. All proceeds benefit the senior corporation.

Operation Christmas Child workshop Aug. 7

GLADSTONE — On Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. all Operation Christmas Child volunteers are invited to a free informational and inspirational workshop. Volunteers will kick-start the packing season with some great ideas, food, and door prizes.

Mix and Mingle events planned through 2019

ESCANABA — A schedule of Mix and Mingle community events for 2018-2019 has been released. Events include:

Saturday, Aug. 4 — ReCreating In the Great Outdoors, an adaptive recreational day for all to enjoy will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event includes shooting sporting clays, fishing, kayaking, and boat rides. Registration forms and waivers must be completed prior to the event.

Monday, Oct. 29 — A Halloween party (tentatively) at the Delta Plaza Mall will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The event will include a costume contest, dinner and dancing.

Thursday, Feb. 14 — Bowling at the Bowl-A-Rama, dinner and dancing from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Monday, April 22 — A Spring Dance at Escanaba Civic Center will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Come have dinner, dance and socialize and make new friends. (Casual Attire)

Monday, June 3 — A formal dance will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Island Resort and Casino.

There is a fee for each of the events listed. Transportation will be provided for individuals living in Gladstone and Escanaba.

Kiwanis Club Holds meeting Wednesday

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone-Rapid River Kiwanis Club holds weekly meeting every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave., Gladstone. Plan to attend a meeting and hear about on-going activities in support of community kids.
