Country Express to play at Amvets tonight

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 at 1315 North Lincoln Road, Escanaba, are featuring country and variety band Country Express Friday, July 13 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.

Perkins School all-class reunion event planned

PERKINS — An all-class reunion will be held on July 14 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Perkins Lions Club. The reunion is for anyone who attended school in Perkins.

Please bring a dish to pass and whatever beverage you would like to drink. Silverware and plates will be provided.

Ride supports U.P. Honor Flight tomorrow

POWERS — The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight will be hosting a Summer Fun Ride for motorcycle riders on Saturday, July 14. The ride departs from TJ’s Sports Bar in Powers at noon CST.

Money raised from the ride benefits the Honor Flight, which takes U.P. veterans on an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. to see the monuments built in their honor.

In addition to the ride, there will be food, silent auctions, and 50/50 raffles. Music will be provided by Kamikaze Blitz beginning at 8 p.m.

Memorial UMC offers Thursday dinner bags

GLADSTONE — Gladstone’s Memorial United Methodist Church will once again be providing a “grab and go” bag with a grilled brat, chips and a drink prior to each Thursday night summer concert in Van Cleve Park. The summer concert series starts June 21.

The public will be able to drive up to the church at 1920 Lake Shore Drive and purchase the food bags before continuing on their way to the park for the concert. The bags will be on sale from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each evening through July 26.

Proceeds from the sale help offset the cost of the church’s vacation Bible school program, which is open to all area children.

Bark River Bible Church picnic in park Sunday

BARK RIVER — Bark River Bible church will be having a picnic at Veterans Park in Spalding following a service at the park.

The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The Johnson Bluegrass Band will be ministering in music. A baptism will follow the service, and the picnic will follow. Please bring a dish to pass.

Lecture series at East Ludington Gallery

ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery, 1007 Ludington St. Escanaba, will be having a lecture series the third Thursday of every month.

This month will be Tracy Anderson – Scratchboard. The art of scratchboard involves using various tools on white clayboard that has been painted black to create art with exceptional detail and realism.

The lecture will take place on July 19 from 7 to 8 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge.

Classes cancelled

GLADSTONE — During the summer months, the Tai-Chi, Sit and be Fit and the Grassroots Cribbage will not take place. They will all resume in September. The Gladstone Senior Center is sorry for any inconvenience.
