MARSP to meet June 5

GLADSTONE — The Delta County of MARSP will hold its June meeting on June 5 at the Highland Golf Club, starting at noon. There is a cost for the provided lunch.

Terry and Sue Hampton will provide a program on the Finnish Holocaust.

Deadline to make reservations, if you are not on a calling list, is Thursday, May 31, before 9 p.m. You may call (906) 786-7748 or (906) 399-0280. Cancellations can be made by calling either of these numbers by 9 a.m. Sunday, June 3.

Dance at K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum

K.I. SAWYER — There will be a dance at the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum on Sunday, June 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. Music will be provided by the Hart Beats.

Salem Lutheran Church to honor graduates

BARK RIVER — The church’s 2018 graduates will be honored this Sunday at Salem NALC Lutheran Church in Bark River.

Benefit for Cindy Stock

GLADSTONE — There will be a spaghetti feed benefit for Cindy Stock on Saturday, June 2 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cindy is a retired school teacher from Gladstone Area Schools. She has been in and out of the hospital since January in Arizona.

Stock was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. This condition causes her immune system to attack her nervous system. Currently, she has been in the hospital for the past two months and is unable to walk.

Along with the Guillain-Barre syndrome, doctors have found lesions on her brain and a cancerous tumor on her kidney.

Friends and family are hosting the benefit dinner to help offset medical expenses.

There is a door charge for the benefit and dinner, but children five and under get in free. The event will also include bucket raffles, 50/50 raffles, a silent auction, and bake sale.

Monetary donations can also be made at Great Lakes First Federal Credit Union, under Cindy Stock Benefit.

DAV to hold meeting

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, located at 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

All disabled veterans are ­welcome.

Kiwanis Club holds meeting Wednesday

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone – Rapid River Kiwanis Club holds weekly meetings every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave., Gladstone. Plan to attend a meeting and hear about on-going activities in support of community kids.

The Kiwanis Club welcomes new members who desire to support area children. If you are interested in helping to fill weekend food backpacks for the 152 school children who would have little or no food to eat on weekends without these backpacks, your assistance is welcome. Backpacks are filled each Wednesday, starting at 3 p.m. for four Gladstone Schools and the Rapid River School.

Kiwanis Clubs around the globe serve the needs of their community’s kids with all kinds of support including playground equipment, food, clothing and educational opportunities. For more information about Kiwanis, “Serving The Children Of The World,” visit www.kiwanis.org.
