MARSP sets date for May meeting and lunch

GLADSTONE — The Delta County chapter of MARSP will hold its May meeting on May 1, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone, starting at noon. A pasta lunch will be served. There is a cost for the meal, which includes salad, breadsticks, and dessert.

The program will consist of the chapter’s annual meeting.

The deadline to make reservations, if you are not on a calling list, is Thursday, April 26, before 9 p.m. You may call 906-786-7748 or 906-399-0280 to make a reservation. Cancellations can be made by calling the above numbers by 9 p.m. Sunday evening, April 29.

Wells Lions 52 Club Raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of April 16 is Geraldine DeMars of Escanaba. DeMars won $100. This was week 37 of the raffle.

Elks fish fries continue

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks #354 will be serving their fish fries for two more weeks.

The progressive card raffle continues to grow. Tickets are still available.

Books and other media needed for book sale

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. They are also in need of large-print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

They can be delivered to Pat Rudden at First Bank (formerly Northern Michigan Bank), 1921 3rd Ave N , or you can call her at 280-1789 for pick up.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA — Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information, or just displaying MADD red ribbons.

Daily activities for ­seniors in Hermansville

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Senior Center has various activities going on every week. Everyday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., walking is available. They also have a treadmill available. Morning coffee is also available everyday.

Every Tuesday and Friday, 15 games of bingo are played, starting at 12:45 p.m.

On Wednesday afternoons, enjoy a game of cards.

Craft day is the third Monday of the month.

Foot Clinic is on the third Tuesday of the month. The nurse arrives at 9 a.m. Bring a towel. Call the center to register for the foot clinic.

Kiwanis Club holds meeting Wednesday

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone – Rapid River Kiwanis Club holds weekly meetings every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave., Gladstone.

The Kiwanis Club welcomes new members who desire to support area children. If you are interested in helping to fill weekend food backpacks for the 152 school children who would have little or no food to eat on weekends without these backpacks, your assistance is welcome. Backpacks are filled each Wednesday, starting at 3 p.m. for four Gladstone Schools and the Rapid River School.
