AAUW to attend musical ‘Curtains’ Feb. 4
ESCANABA — The Escanaba Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be showing its support for Players de Noc by attending the matinee of the musical, “Curtains” on Sunday, Feb. 4. Members should call 420-3083 if they plan to attend.

Delta Animal Shelter monthly meeting
ESCANABA — The Delta Animal Shelter’s monthly membership meeting will be held Monday, Feb., 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Ferdinand’s Mexican Restaurant in the back conference room.
If you are looking for a way to become involved with the animal shelter, this group is a great way to do just that. Come down and see what the group is about.
Kennel Club holds next general meeting Feb. 8
ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Kennel Club will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Kennel Club building at 6687 N.75 Dr. Escanaba just north of the Wells Sports Complex, next to the baseball field. The public is welcome to attend.

Cedar Creek Country Band performs Friday
ESCANABA –The Cedar Creek Country Band is scheduled to perform live Friday, Feb. 2 at the AMVETS Hall in Escanaba from 7 to 11 p.m. A donation will be accepted at the door. All are welcome.
Christian Closet opens Feb. 7 for those in need
ESCANABA — Families and individuals in need will be welcome to visit the Christian Closet and select from an assortment of gently used clothing and shoes of all sizes, non-perishable food items, household supplies, and so much more. Everything will be available free of charge.
The Christian Closet is located at the Escanaba Church of Christ building, located in Soo Hill at 5079 18th Road, Escanaba.
The closet will be open on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the next date being Wednesday, Feb. 7.
St. Thomas Church breakfast this Sunday
ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, located at 1820 9th Avenue North in Escanaba, will serve breakfast Sunday, Feb. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parish hall. The menu includes eggs, pancakes, sausage, potatoes, toast, coffee and juice.
There is a cost to attend, but children ages 5 and under are admitted free. All are welcome.
Rapid River Readers set February discussion
RAPID RIVER — Rapid Readers’ selections for February and March are “Bettyville,” by George Hedgman, and “The Giant’s House,” by Elizabeth McCraken.
The February meeting will include discussion of January’s book “Call the Nurse” by Mary J. MacLeod.
The group meets on the second Thursday of the month, weather permitting. Meetings take place at 10 a.m. at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. New members are welcome.
The February get-together is Thursday, Feb. 8.
