Senior Center offers escape from winter

GLADSTONE — Winter is here. Why stay at home when you and your friends, can come to the Gladstone Senior Center for entertainment and a great lunch every weekday at 11:30 a.m.? If you are a 60 year old or older you can get a delicious balanced meal for a donation.

There is a different meal each day and a monthly schedule of the meals is available at the Senior Center. Come in to learn more about the opportunities that the Center has to offer.

Kiwanis Club holds meeting Wednesday

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Rapid River Kiwanis Club holds weekly meetings every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 1212 Minneapolis Ave., Gladstone. Plan to attend a meeting and here about on-going activities in support of community kids.

The Kiwanis Club welcomes new members who desire to support area children. If you are interested in helping to fill weekend food backpacks for the 180 school children who would have little or no food to eat on weekends without these backpacks, your assistance is welcome. Backpacks are filled each Wednesday, starting at 3 p.m. for four Gladstone Schools and the Rapid River School.

Kiwanis Clubs around the globe serve the needs of their community’s kids with all kinds of support including playground equipment, food, clothing and educational opportunities. Daily activities at the senior center

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Senior Center has various activities going on every week. Everyday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., walking is available, they also have a treadmill available. Morning coffee is also available everyday.

Every Tuesday and Friday, 15 games of bingo are played, starting at 12:45 p.m.

Wednesday afternoons, enjoy a game of cards.

Craft day is the third Monday of the month.

Foot Clinic is on the third Tuesday of the month. The nurse arrives at 9 a.m. Bring a towel. Call the center to register for the foot clinic.

Sit-n-fit exercise class

ESCANABA — Fitness chair exercises to improve strength, stretching, balance, flexibility and muscle will be held every Monday and Friday at 11a.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.

DAV holds meeting

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. All disabled veterans are welcome. Call Commander William Porath at (906) 280-0455 with any questions.

Yooper Reunion to take place in Florida
