DAV Chapter 24 sets December Meeting

HARRIS — DAV Chapter 24 will have its Christmas gathering at the Island Resort and Casino on Monday, Dec. 4. Cocktail hours is at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6 p.m. Call commander William Porath at (906) 280-0455 with an questions.

St Anthony/St Thomas Christmas Bazaar

ESCANABA — St Anthony/St Thomas Church Bazaar will be held Dec. 3, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner of ham, meatballs, cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, Jell-o, rolls, pies and beverages will be served. There will be a fee to attend the Church Bazaar. There will also be cash and baskets raffles, a 50/50, crafts, and a bake sale.

Homeless shelter to change ­location Sunday

ESCANABA — Church of Christ, 5079 18th Rd in Escanaba, will be the next host site for Delta County’s rotating homeless shelter beginning this Sunday evening, Dec. 3. Volunteers are still needed for a number of shifts.

Christmas In Nahma

NAHMA — A Christmas Craft show will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nahma Township Hall. There will be a variety of vendors and lunch will be available, served by the Isabella Community Hall Committee.

This event is sponsored by the Nahma Township Business and Community Association.

MARSP meets Dec. 7

MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Chapter of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will meet in Thurs., Dec. 7, at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Road 338 in Carbondale. Registration will being at 11 a.m. central time and the meal will be served at noon. There will be a fee to attend. Members are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys, books, games and/or nonperishable food items to be distributed to the needy.

In the event of inclement weather on Dec. 7, the alternate date for the meeting would be Dec. 14.

The program will be presented by members of the River Cities Reader’s Theatre. A brief business meeting will follow the program.

Cloverland Legion to meet Tuesday

ESCANABA — The Cloverland American Legion Post #82 will meet Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Purple Heart building 1202 Sheridan Road. Refreshment after the meeting.

Right to Life of Delta County to meet Dec. 5

ESCANABA — Right to Life of Delta County will meet, Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6:45 p.m. in Room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College. The winners of the Oct. Respect Life poster contest for grade school students will be presented their awards at 6:45 p.m. before the meeting.

Plans will be made to observe the 45th anniversary, Jan. 22, 2018 of the Row V Wade, Supreme Courts decision that legalized abortion up until birth in this country. Plans include, a special billboard, a full page signature ad in the Daily Press and the 9th annual trip to Washington D.C. for the March for Life.
