­­­Medicare and Medicaid forum Nov. 29

ESCANABA — North Woods Place Senior Living in collaboration with Christian Park Village and UPCAP will be hosting a community forum to help inform the community about Medicare and Medicaid.

The forum aims to help residents understand new health care options, understand Medicare and Medicaid options, compare or enroll in Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, review individual Medicare supplemental insurance needs, apply for Medicaid or Medicare Savings Program, and protect themselves from Medicare fraud.

This community forum will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29 at North Woods Place Senior Living, 501 South Lincoln Road, Escanaba, 3 to 5 p.m.

Cancer benefit for Kathy Lane planned in Dec.

POWERS — Cancer Benefit for Kathy Lane will be held Saturday, Dec. 2. The event will feature artists, bakers, a crafters’ Christmas Market, raffles, 50/50, silent auction, a pig roast, and so much more.

The Christmas Market will begin at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at North Central High School in Powers.

The Santa fun run/walk 2.8 miles will start at 11 a.m. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Bring your dog along for the run.

The pig roast and spaghetti dinner will be from 12 to 1:30 p.m., with the live auction starting at 2 p.m.

Ladies Advent Tea planned set for Dec. 2

ESCANABA — Ladies Advent Tea hosted by Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 South 30th Street, Escanaba, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. The program “Keeping Christ in Christmas” will focus on symbols of Christmas and their Christian meaning. It is a great opportunity to set aside the hustle and bustle of holiday preparation to focus our minds and hearts on the birth of Christ. Refreshments/desserts will be served after the program. Everyone is welcome to attend this event.

American Legion meets

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River American Legion meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Dec. 5.

Democratic Party to meet on Dec. 6

ESCANABA — The Delta County Democratic Party will hold its monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at USW Union Hall, 1201 Sheridan Rd., Escanaba. Social is at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

Meditation available on Tuesdays at Bonifas

ESCANABA — The Little Bay Zen Buddhist Sangha is a Buddhist Community that practices zazen (sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation) and Dharma discussion at The Bonifas Arts Center in downtown Escanaba on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m.

Annual Old Fashioned Christmas set for Friday

GLADSTONE — Old Fashioned Christmas will take place in the downtown of Gladstone on Friday Nov. 24. Tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. families will be able to make s’mores at burning barrels placed along Delta Avenue along with visit Santa, write a letter to Santa, ride a horse drawn wagon, watch the live nativity presentation, create a craft, listen to live holiday music and attend the children’s carnival.
