SUAMICO, Wis. — Zachary Adam Salmi, grandson of Al and Dolly Salmi, of Rapid River, was awarded his Eagle Scout Badge during a court of honor which took place on March 4 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Wis. Zach became the seventh member of the Salmi family to become an Eagle Scout. He is a member of Bay Lakes Council and Boy Scout Troop 1033 in Suamico, Wis.

Zach’s two older brothers, Luke and Jacob, are also Eagle Scouts. Zach’s father Allen, his grandfather Al, and Uncle Mike Salmi, all Eagle scouts, were proud to welcome the new Eagle Scout. Zach’s uncle Brad, who is deployed overseas with the Air Force, sent his long distance congratulations.

Zachary will graduate from Bayport High School in June and has enrolled in a pre-med program at Northern Michigan University, which is also the alma mater of both his father and grandfather.

Grandpa Al earned his Eagle Scout award with Troop 489 in Rock and Troop 359 in Marquette in 1963. He served as scoutmaster of Troop 466 in Gladstone where all three of his sons earned their Eagle Scout award. Son Allen was scoutmaster for his three sons Troop 1033 in Suamico, Wis.
