James T. Jones Elementary students pose with members from local first responder’s groups last week during the school’s “Great Kindness Challenge.” During last Wednesday’s festivities, the students were surprised by Michigan Department of Natural Resources officers, Gladstone Public Safety, Gladstone Firefighters and Delta County Sheriff’s Department as they were asked to thank someone in uniform as part of the challenge. The officers gave the kids high fives as the students thanked them for their service. Other activities for the challenge included Coins for Kindness, where the elementary students raised money for a school in Pakistan, as well as writing “thank you” notes to the school’s nurse and superintendent. At the conclusion of the events on Friday, all students and staff wore matching t-shirts that read “Kindness Matters.” Photo was provided by the school.
