Remember When

Daily Press photo An ice covered Ford River trapped a large tractor of the Denison Construction Co., out of Munising in 1957. The ice gave way and the heavy equipment settled to the bottom in about four feet of water. At the time, the contractor was at work on the new 120-foot bridge spanning Ford River, which is one and a half miles north of Hyde. The bridge was finished the following spring and the total cost of the project was $60,000.
