Holy Name Catholic School to welcome Matt Fradd

Matt Fradd

ESCANABA — Holy Name Catholic School (HNCS) is pleased to announce that Matt Fradd will be coming to Escanaba on March 2 and 3. Fradd is a nationally-recognized speaker on chastity. A $2,650 grant from the Legacy of Faith Foundation, along with a $1,000 donation from Skerbeck Entertainment Group and $1,000 from the Knights of Columbus Council 640 will fund the speaker’s visit.

The Legacy of Faith grant request was written by Holy Name Catholic School Faith Formation Coordinator Kate Swanson, who says she is looking forward to Fradd inspiring students to live chaste lives and to love Christ and His Church with their whole selves.

According to Swanson, it is because of generous donations from the Legacy of Faith, Skerbeck Entertainment Group and the Knights of Columbus that Holy Name School is able to bring Fradd to Escanaba. “We really want to get as many people here as possible,” Swanson said. “It is such a gift to bring in Matt Fradd to inspire our young people to grow in the virtues of chastity and self-control. Youth groups, parents, families, etc. from all over the diocese are welcome to attend.”

All of the presentations will be at the Besse Center Theater on the campus of Bay College in Escanaba, and are free to the public to attend.

The schedule for the event includes three components: first, Matt Fradd will hold a presentation to parents on Thursday, March 2, from 6 to 7 p.m. entitled “Parenting the Internet Generation,” second, on Thursday, March 2, Fradd will speak to high school students from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in a presentation entitled “The Love that Satisfies,” and finally, Fradd will hold a “Love that Satisfies” talk for seventh and eighth grade students on Friday, March 3 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Fradd’s background includes working as a missionary in Canada and Ireland, where he proclaimed the gospel to over ten thousand teens and young adults. He has served the Church through full-time lay ministry in Australia, Ireland, Canada, and Texas. Fradd has been a guest on the BBC, EWTN, ABC and Catholic Answers Live.
