AAUW holds New Year gathering

ESCANABA — AAUW (American Association of University Women) will hold a New Year gathering on Jan. 19 at the House of Ludington. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Emerald Room and will include a selection of hors d’oeuvres, door prizes, music by Travis Dubord and a cash bar.

The cost is $15 per person. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 786-3415 before Jan. 16. Members and their guests are asked to bring items for the Tri-County Safe Harbor shelter. These may include gift cards, paper products, personal items such as toothpaste, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, etc. Membership in AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate’s degree or higher (including an RN degree).

Established in 1881, the organization promotes gender equity for women and girls, supports life-long learning and, locally, sponsors two scholarships for women at Bay College. For more information, call Sharon at 474-6545.
