Sunday School Christmas

program to be held

GLADSTONE — The Covenant Church of Gladstone located at 305 S. 9th St., Gladstone, will hold their Sunday School Christmas Program on Sunday, Dec. 11, during the church service beginning at 10 a.m. Following the program cookies and refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.

Rapid River Readers

RAPID RIVER — Christmas madness has struck early. The Rapid River Readers will gather to discuss “A Man Called Ové” by Fredrik Backman on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. The gathering will meet at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. NAMI meeting canceled

for December

ESCANABA — The local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has canceled the meeting for December. The next meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 19, in room 961 of the Heirman University Center at Bay College, beginning at 6 p.m.

NAMI supports family and friends who are dealing with mental illness, and their loved ones, by educating and sharing experiences. The group meets the third Thursday of the month. For more information, call Pat at 789-9464 or Marilyn at 286-1195.

Senior Center

ESCANABA — Learn dance steps while improving strength, balance, and muscle tone. Monday, Wednesday or Thursdays from 12:45 to 2 p.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.

HERMANSVILLE — The Floriano-Stecker-Kelly American Legion Post meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. The next meeting is on Dec. 8.

Christmas Cookie

Walk set for Dec. 10

ESCANABA — The annual Christmas Cookie Walk is set for Saturday, Dec. 10 beginning at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in the church hall. In addition to cookies, specialty breads, fudge, and candy, there will be a craft table featuring rugs, mittens, and ornaments to name a few.

Menominee County

Voiture plans meeting

CARNEY — Menominee County Voiture 1288 of the 40 et 8 will not meet in December due to the holiday season. The next meeting will be on Jan. 17, 2017 at the Stephenson American Legion Post.

The February meeting will be at the Powers American Legion Post on Feb. 21, 2017, and the March meeting will be at the Floriano-Stecker-Kelly Post on March 21, 2017.

St. Anthony’s Church

meat pie sale

ESCANABA — The members of St. Anthony’s church will conduct their annual meat pie sale on Dec 14-15. The 10-inch meat pies will be made at St. Thomas Church and are $13 each. The beef and pork is purchased from Viaus Market. All meat pies must be pre-ordered. Pick up will be from 1 to 4 p.m. both days. To pre order call Debbie at 399-4259.
