Cookie Walk to be

held at Immanuel

ESCANABA — A cookie walk will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 S. Lincoln Rd., Escanaba, on Dec. 17 at 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be held in the fellowship hall.

Vasa holds its annual

Christmas party

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Framat Vasa Lodge 463 will have its annual Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Stonehouse at 1:30 p.m. There will be an update on activities for the upcoming year.

Story hour at the

Galdstone Public Library

GLADSTONE — Celebrate the holiday season at the Gladstone Public Library’s story hour, “Happy OWLidays.” Children ages two to 10 years old are invited to join the festivities on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. There will be stories, crafts, holiday songs, and cookie decorating for the children, along with a visit from a special guest.

Story hour for that day is sponsored by the Friends of the Gladstone Library. For more information, call 428-4224.

Meeting scheduled for

Right to Life Dec. 6

ESCANABA — Right to Life of Delta County will meet Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in room 963 if the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College.

The winners of the October Respect Life poster contest for grade school students will be presented their awards at 6:45 p.m. before the meeting.

Plans will be made to observe the 44rd anniversary, Jan. 22, 2017 of the Roe vs. Wade, Supreme Courts decision that legalized abortion up until birth in this country. Plans will include: a special billboard, a full page signature ad in the Daily Press, and the 8th annuanl Yoopers for Life trip to Washington D.C. for the March for Life on Jan. 27, 2017.

Legion hold meeting

ESCANABA — The Cloverland American Legion Post #82 will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Purple Heart Building,1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

Daily activities at the

Senior Center

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Senior Center has various activities going on every week. Everyday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., walking is available, they also have a treadmill available. Morning coffee is also available everyday.

Every Tuesday and Friday, 15 games of Bingo are played, starting at 12:45 p.m.

Wednesday afternoons, enjoy a game of cards.

Craft day is the third Monday of the month. Dec. 19 is the next day for crafts.

Foot clinic is on the third Tuesday of the month, but for the month of December it will be on Dec. 13. The nurse arrives at 9 a.m. Cost is $12. Bring a towel. Call the center to register for the foot clinic.

Tai Chi offered at

the Senior Center

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Senior Center is offering Tai Chi on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Classes are designed for people who want a program of exercise that is gentle on the joints and has been proven in research studies to increase overall fitness, reduce pain, reduce falls and improve ability to do more daily activities.

This tai chi program is particularly supportive of joint health because it includes agile steps, high stances, gentle movements, and relaxed breathing. Classes provide people of all ages and a wide range of physical abilities with a “joint friendly” exercise alternative. Participants can do Tai Chi seated or standing. The course is taught by a nationally certified Tai Chi for Health Institute leaders. Cost is $3.
