Area Boy Scouts to hold Fall Camporee

FORD RIVER – The Red Buck Sub-District will hold its Fall Camporee out at Fuller Park, just about 15 miles south of Escanaba, on M-35. On Friday Sept. 30, Boy Scouts from across the U.P. will be converging at OB Fuller Park this weekend. Scouts from the Red Buck Sub-District are expected from Escanaba, Gladstone, Rapid River, Bark River, Hermansville, Manistique, and possibly from Stephenson, and Menominee.

The theme of the Camporee this fall is fishing, and the events are all based on fishing. The fun, learning and competition items include: fish identification, fishing safety & first aid, fishing knots, fly fishing casting, fishnet frisbee, boating safety, fishing pole lashing, and dutch oven cooking.

The Camporee will kick-off Friday night with registration beginning at 4 p.m., and will run until about 10 a.m. on Sunday Oct. 2. Scouts are reminded that even if there is a football game and homecoming dance, we still want you to come and join in the fun, as schedule permits.

The Camporee is open to all Scouts and Webelos in the area, and remember to “Bring a friend.” Registration is $5 per person. This event allows scouts to fulfil advancement requirements, and Merit Badge requirements, and have fun.
