HUGHES — Hank and Ileen (Neuens) Hughes, of Escanaba, celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary recently. The couple married on Feb. 1, 1947 at Holy Family Parish in Flat Rock.

Ileen worked at Montgomery Ward, and as a full-time housewife and mother. She is known for her fabulous cooking and baking. Ileen was also a seamstress and bookkeeper.

Hank was self-employed as a dairy farmer and made maple syrup his whole life.

Ileen turned 90 on Jan. 6 and Hank will turn 95 on Wednesday, May 23.

Together, the couple has 10 children including Patrick Sr., Rosalie, Barbara, Raymond, Joseph, Ileen, Ronald, Connie, Larry, and Mary. Other family members include countless relatives, son- and daughter-in-laws, 27 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren.
